Sirenna Grayward
The ambitious Head of House Grayward who reclaimed the throne to end corruption, becoming the steel-willed Queen of Velltrain.
Sirenna Grayward
Sirenna Grayward is the Head of House Grayward and the current Queen of the Kingdom of Velltrain. A descendant of the ancient dynasty that ruled before the Veldris line, Sirenna is a figure of immense political and military power. She is characterized by her unwavering patriotism, her disdain for corruption, and her command over the formidable Grayward armies. Rising from a powerful noblewoman to a prisoner of political intrigue, and finally to the monarch, she represents the restoration of order in a kingdom brought to the brink of collapse by greed and incompetence.
Personality
Sirenna is the embodiment of aristocratic resolve and pragmatic ruthlessness. She views the Kingdom of Velltrain not merely as a territory, but as a legacy that must be protected from “thieves and incompetents.” She holds a deep-seated hatred for corruption, specifically targeting figures like Chancellor Orvin Talvest, whom she views as a parasite upon the state.
While she presents a cold and haughty exterior to her enemies, Sirenna possesses a strong sense of honor. She respects strength, competence, and loyalty. Her relationship with Lord Regent Elaric evolved from mutual suspicion to deep trust; she values him as one of the few honest men in a capital filled with vipers. Unlike many rulers who seek power for vanity, Sirenna seeks it for stability, believing that only the “Iron Hand” of House Grayward can save the nation.
She is skeptical of external forces, particularly the “Hero Party” and adventurers, viewing their interference in sovereign politics as dangerous and unpredictable. However, she is pragmatic enough to accept supernatural aid when the survival of her people is at stake.
Role in the Story
The Succession Crisis
Following the death of King Edward IV, Sirenna arrived in the capital, Kronmark, not to pay respects, but to challenge the new order. As the leader of the most powerful region—Grayward, the former capital—she openly criticized the Regency and the rampant corruption of the Council. She initially offered Lord Regent Elaric a proposal to overthrow the corrupt council and seize power together, arguing that the legitimate heir, Prince Alaric, was unfit to rule.
[!IMPORTANT] Sirenna commands the largest independent military force in Velltrain, numbering hundreds of thousands at its peak. Her power base in the Grayward region allowed her to challenge the crown directly, making her the only warlord capable of checking the corrupt Chancellor Orvin’s influence.
Imprisonment and Rebellion
After the assassination of Prince Alaric, Sirenna was framed for the murder alongside Lord Elaric by Chancellor Orvin Talvest. Stripped of her status and thrown into the dungeons, she endured starvation and the threat of execution. It was during this incarceration that she formed a genuine alliance with Elaric, realizing their shared goal of saving the Kingdom.
Escaping during a chaotic diplomatic negotiation gone wrong (sparked by the intervention of the Hero Party members and the ensuing riot), Sirenna managed to flee Kronmark. She undertook a grueling journey back to her ancestral home in Grayward. There, she rallied her legions, declaring open war against the usurper Orvin and the warlord Garret Strog.
The Conquest of Kronmark
Sirenna led the “March of Justice” back to the capital. Utilizing her superior military might and the strategic acumen of her allies, she breached the defenses of Kronmark. In the final confrontation in the throne room, she secured the capture of Orvin Talvest and Garret Strog.
Rather than installing a puppet or leaving the throne empty, Sirenna was crowned Queen of Velltrain. She immediately appointed Elaric as her High Chancellor, signaling a new era of governance focused on purging corruption and restoring the kingdom’s prestige.
The Divine Crisis
During the Lonvar Summit, where world leaders gathered to discuss international stability, Sirenna represented Velltrain as a stabilizing force. However, the summit was interrupted by the onset of the Divine Crisis. Sirenna, along with other key figures, was transported to a chaotic pocket dimension by the Goddess Selizara.
Despite the surreal horror of the dimension, Sirenna maintained her composure better than most, focusing on finding a way back to her people. Upon her return to the material plane, she found her kingdom under siege by angelic forces. Putting aside her dislike for supernatural entities, she coordinated the defense of Velltrain, prioritizing the evacuation and protection of civilians while navigating the apocalyptic landscape of a world at war with its own gods.
