Ayumi

Ayumi is a High Elf survivor and the current Royal Advisor to Queen Sirenna Grayward and High Chancellor Elaric. Originally a refugee from the Great Forest, which was decimated by Orcs, Ayumi arrived in the human capital of Kronmark seeking nothing more than survival and comfort. Through a series of chaotic political upheavals, she rose from a spy for the corrupt Chancellor Orvin into a key player in the kingdom’s history, briefly serving as the Interim Ruler under the jurisdiction of the Hero Party.

She is known for her sharp tongue, her unapologetic pragmatism, and her uncanny ability to survive situations that would kill more “noble” heroes. While she publicly claims to be lazy and unskilled, she was the mastermind behind the purge of the corrupt Church and the stabilization of the capital during the Hero Occupation.

Personality

Ayumi is defined by extreme cynicism and a “survival-first” mentality. having witnessed the slaughter of her people by Orcs, she views human politics as a petty, albeit profitable, game. She is openly disdainful of “honor” and “tradition” if they stand in the way of efficiency or survival. She frequently uses coarse language and sexuality as a weapon, disarming opponents by playing the role of a “naive elven girl” or a “greedy harlot” while gathering critical intelligence.

Despite her claims of wanting to do “absolutely nothing” and her desire to just drink tea and sleep in luxury, Ayumi possesses a ruthless streak. She is willing to order executions, burn convoys, and frame innocents if it prevents a larger catastrophe—or simply saves her own skin.

However, she shows a surprising capacity for loyalty to those who treat her with genuine respect, specifically Elaric (whom she cleared of murder charges) and Hero Joe. She harbors a deep hatred for Orcs and sexual predators, the latter driving her crusade against Archbishop Yulmar.

Role in the Story

The Chancellor’s Spy

Ayumi initially served Chancellor Orvin Talvest, acting as his “fixer” and spy. She was tasked with infiltrating the inner circle of Prince Alaric, successfully seducing the foolish prince to control him. During this time, she played a double game, gathering dirt on everyone while securing her own position. She was instrumental in the political maneuvering that followed the death of the Prince, though she privately loathed Orvin’s greed.

The Veldheim Assassination

Sent by Orvin to eliminate Lord Marvis Reinhold in Veldheim, Ayumi’s mission initially seemed to be a failure. She was captured, but she swiftly pivoted, using her libido and Marvis’s own ego to disarm him. While the mission was recorded by some as a “failed attempt” that became an alliance, the gruesome reality was far different. Once she had the Lord in his bed, she ended his life in a horrific fashion—by biting off his genitals and leaving him to bleed to death. This event solidified her reputation as someone who should never be underestimated, regardless of how “captured” she appeared to be.

The Hero Occupation

When the Hero Party (specifically the Hero Joe) arrived and declared judgment on Velltrain, the government collapsed. In a stroke of bizarre luck and seduction, Ayumi became Joe’s lover and was appointed as the Interim Ruler of Velltrain. For a brief period, an elf held absolute authority over the human kingdom. During this time, she utilized the Hero’s authority to dismantle the corrupt nobility’s grip on power.

[!IMPORTANT] The Secret of the Gold Room Ayumi is one of the few living souls who knows the true location of the “Tract Fund”—a massive, secret stockpile of gold embezzled by Orvin Talvest. Hidden behind a false wall in the Chancellor’s office, this wealth effectively makes Ayumi the richest individual in the kingdom, though she keeps this a secret from the Crown to ensure her own safety and comfort.

The Church Purge

Ayumi’s most significant military contribution was the destruction of Archbishop Yulmar. Recognizing the church leader as a predator running a trafficking ring, she utilized her temporary authority to mobilize a task force (including Elaric and Sirenna). She led the raid on the Great Cathedral, exposing the horrific “Gas Trap” catacombs and liberating the victims. When Yulmar attempted to hide behind religious immunity, Ayumi ensured his downfall, paving the way for the secularization of the state.

The Kingmaker

In the final conflict for the throne, Ayumi stepped back, realizing she had no desire to rule permanently. She manipulated the trial of Elaric to ensure his acquittal by scapegoating a maid, Eyla Bingtail, effectively saving the future Chancellor’s life. She ultimately threw her support behind Sirenna Grayward, facilitating the transition of power.

Now, she resides in the palace, officially as an advisor, but largely spending her time enjoying the luxuries of the “Gold Room” she seized from her former master, serving as the Kingdom’s cynical safeguard against future stupidity.

Crimson Age

In the timeline of the Crimson Age, Ayumi’s life followed a similarly successful path, leading to a state of ultimate leisure.

The Eternal Advisor

Being an elf, Ayumi has outlived both Queen Sirenna and High Chancellor Elaric. Thanks to a special lifelong status granted to her personally by Sirenna, she remains a permanent fixture of the royal palace. In this era, she has fully embraced her “dream” of doing absolutely nothing. Officially still a “Royal Advisor,” her daily routine consists almost entirely of drinking fine wine, enjoying gourmet meals, and sleeping—effectively living out her life in total “chill” mode within the palace walls.

The New Era: Sylvia Grayward

The peace of her retirement has recently been disturbed by the ascension of Sirenna’s granddaughter, Sylvia Grayward, to the throne. Unlike her predecessors who eventually learned to just let Ayumi be, the young Queen Sylvia is reportedly making active attempts to “recruit” or pester the legendary elf back into active service. As the new Queen seeks to make her mark on Velltrain, Ayumi finds her quiet life of luxury under threat by the energy of the new generation. Interesting times are, once again, on the horizon.
